What the notice says The steering column mounting screws may be missing on these vehicles. the steering column mounting clamps and bolts are covered by a plastic kneepad installed below the dash panel. the kneepad is sufficient to hold the steering wheel and column in place under most normal driving conditions and the missing mounting … Is your vehicle included? THE STEERING COLUMN MOUNTING CLAMPS AND BOLTS ARE COVERED BY A PLASTIC KNEEPAD INSTALLED BELOW THE DASH PANEL. THE KNEEPAD IS SUFFICIENT TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN IN PLACE UNDER MOST NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND THE MISSING MOUNTING SCREWS MAY NOT BE DETECTED BY THE DRIVER. SHOULD THE STEERING COLUMN COME LOOSE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION,LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND A VEHICLE CRASH COULD OCCUR.
