What the notice says The steering mitre boxes on these vehicles have no protective boots on the shafts and were not totally packed with grease when assembled. as a result, dirt can be ingested into the system, causing the gear shaft bearings to deteriorate. this could result in a hard steering condition or steering lock up. correction: … Is your vehicle included? THE STEERING MITRE BOXES ON THESE VEHICLES HAVE NO PROTECTIVE BOOTS ON THE SHAFTS AND WERE NOT TOTALLY PACKED WITH GREASE WHEN ASSEMBLED. AS A RESULT, DIRT CAN BE INGESTED INTO THE SYSTEM, CAUSING THE GEAR SHAFT BEARINGS TO DETERIORATE. THIS COULD RESULT IN A HARD STEERING CONDITION OR STEERING LOCK UP. CORRECTION: MITRE BOXES WILL BE REPLACED WITH VERSIONS WHICH HAVE PROTECTIVE BOOTS INSTALLED AS WELL AS GREASE FITTINGS.
