The wheel component of the cam chain tensioner was designed in a way that does not allow oil to seep down into the wheel bushing acting as a lubricant. Due to high heat, friction and lack of lubricant on the wheel bushing, the rubber compound is susceptible to become brittle and break off causing part failure.
