What the notice says Issue: On certain digger derricks, the welds for the pedestal tube could crack. If the cracks progress, they could result in a failure of the pedestal and uncontrolled movement. Safety Risk: If the pedestal were to fail, the risk of injury and/or property damage would be increased. Corrective Actions: … Is your vehicle included? Owners will be reminded to perform a daily inspection of the pedestal, as in the owner’s manual. They will also be provided with a reinforcement kit and directions for how to inspect the pedestal for cracks. If cracks are present, the unit must be taken out of service and repaired.
