"excerpt": "Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Passat, model years 2015 to 2016. Filed by Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. and reported to NHTSA on 26 October 2015. 91,867 vehicles potentially affected. What the notice says Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Jetta, Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Passat, Golf and Golf SportWagen vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the camshaft lobe that drives the brake vacuum pump may shear off, resulting in a loss of brake assist. Is your vehicle included? Check with your VIN at NHTSA , or ask a dealer. This page is an independent copy of the notice, kept so you can see what changed after it was published. It is not the authority, and the authority’s own text is the one to act on. CarsMultiverse / Recalls Volkswagen's own number for this recall: 23R1. That is the number on the owner letter and on the dealer paperwork. 15V705 is the number NHTSA gave the same campaign, and the number this page is filed under. They are one recall, written two ways. Answered from the register this site holds. NHTSA is the record to act on. What the authority says can happen if this is not fixed: “If the camshaft lobe shears off there would be a loss of brake assist, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle and increasing the risk of a crash.” 15V705 Volkswagen Group of America, Inc.
