Need a mechanic in a country you’ve never been to? Whether you’re an expat, a road-tripper, or just visiting for a week, these apps and websites consistently work for finding trusted automotive services worldwide. Tested across Latin America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

1. CarsMultiverse

Our own global directory covers 98,000+ automotive listings across 42 countries. Filter by service type (mechanic, body shop, tire shop, EV charging, motorcycle dealer) and city. Free to use, no app install required — works in any browser.

2. Google Maps

The default option in most countries. Searching “mechanic near me” or “auto repair” in the local language usually works. Filter by reviews and rating. Weakness: in many emerging markets the data is incomplete and reviews are sparse.

3. Waze

Strong community data in Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Israel. The “Services” layer often shows mechanic and tire-shop pins not yet on Google Maps.

4. Yelp

Best in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, France, Germany. Mostly useless in most of Latin America and Asia.

5. crowd-sourced charging app & ABRP

For EV charging specifically, crowd-sourced charging app has the largest global crowd-sourced database. ABRP (A Better Routeplanner) is essential for cross-border EV trips.

6. Local Equivalents Worth Knowing

7. Country-Specific Mechanic Apps

8. Forums & Reddit

Don’t underestimate r/MechanicAdvice, r/expats, country-specific subreddits, and ADVrider for moto travel. The best mechanics are often shared by name in these threads.

9. Tips That Save You From Bad Mechanics Abroad
