The Netherlands has one of the world's densest charging networks — many streets have curbside Type 2 chargers and CCS rapid hubs line the motorways. Residents without a driveway can request a public charger near their home.

Fuel is among the most expensive in Europe, and purchase (BPM) and road (MRB) taxes are high — both have favoured EVs, though benefits are moving toward parity, so check current rules. Home charging is cheap per mile versus petrol.

Buying & owning a car in the Netherlands

Cars drive on the right. The APK periodic inspection is required annually once a car passes a set age, several cities restrict older diesels via environmental zones, and third-party (WA) insurance is mandatory. The RDW register documents the used market well.
