Transport Canada carries this recall as 2026260, dated 28 May 2026. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 26V345, dated 28 May 2026. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, N262558671.

Both registers carry the same date for this defect.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 26V345, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

Issue: rnOn certain vehicles, a component in the steering column may not have been manufactured properly. This could cause the transmission not to shift gears correctly when the shifter is moved. As a result, the gear shifter could feel like it is in one gear when the transmission is actually in another. This could cause sudden and unexpected vehicle movements. rnNote: This recall also affects certain cutaway chassis vehicles. rnrnSafety Risk: rnSudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could increase the risk of a crash. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnTo reduce the safety risk, General Motors advises that you visually verify the gear selection in the instrument cluster when selecting a gear and always use the parking brake when parking until the recall repairs have been completed. General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the transmission control on the steering column.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2026260.
