Every recall alert tells you a recall was issued. This one tells you the recall you already know about was reworded afterwards.

That happens more often than people realise. A remedy is narrowed, a consequence is softened, a model is added to the list. The authority publishes one version at a time and does not mark the change, so unless you kept a copy of the old wording, there is nothing to compare. We keep a dated copy of every version of every campaign in the American register (15,259 of them), so we can put both in front of you.

What you will and will not get

Your address is used for this and nothing else. There is no newsletter, no account, and nothing is passed to anyone.

How to find your campaign number

It is on the recall letter, and on every campaign page here: a code like 24V329. Search the record by manufacturer if you do not have the letter to hand. If you would rather not track one campaign, watch a whole manufacturer instead and you will hear about any of its notices that move.

What it looks like when one moves

Six notices have been caught being rewritten since we started reading. Every one of them is on the record, with both versions side by side. That is exactly what lands in your inbox.

Recall wording is published by NHTSA and is US Government public domain. The dated copies, the comparisons and the markings are CarsMultiverse. We are not affiliated with any manufacturer or authority.
