The recall year: 2,169 notices dated 2026 so far

The registers this site keeps have published 2,169 notices dated 2026 so far: 455 American, 405 Canadian, 290 British, 260 European, 217 Dutch, 199 Japanese and 343 Israeli. A notice counts in the year its own authority dates it, not the year this site read it, so a notice published late in December and read in January still belongs to December. The year is not over, so none of these figures should be set beside a whole year without saying so.

The year against the ten before it

The middle column is the average of the whole years from 2016 to 2025, counted from the same record. It is there to give the first column a size, not to say a year is running high or low: a part year and a whole year are not the same measurement, and a register that changed what it publishes will show that here rather than any change in how many vehicles were recalled.

Where these figures come from

Every number on this page is read from the count that fills recalls by year, which runs nightly over the notices this site holds, so the two pages cannot disagree. A blank means no notice is held for that register in that year, which usually means the authority was not publishing yet, not that nothing was recalled. This site is an independent copy of the record and is not any of these authorities. Last counted 16 September 2026.
