A POTENTIAL CATCH POINT EXISTS AT THE HANDRAIL UPPER RETAINER LOCATED BETWEEN THE HANDRAIL AND STEPWELL. AN EXITING PASSENGER'S COAT, BOOKBAGS, DRAWSTRINGS OR BELTS MAY BECOME ENTANGLED ON THE RETAINER BETWEEN THE HANDRAIL AND STEPWELL. IF THE DRIVER WERE UNAWARE THAT THE CLOTHING HAD BECOME ENTANGLED IN THE HANDRAIL, HE OR SHE COULD CLOSE THE DOOR AND DRIVE OFF, THEREBY DRAGGING THE ENTANGLED PASSENGER.rnCORRECTION: A REPLACEMENT RETAINER WILL BE INSTALLED WHICH WILL ELIMINATE THE CATCH POINT.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1996001.
