Issue: rnOn certain vehicles, the springs that lock the backrest for the third-row seat may not have been installed correctly. As a result, the seat backrest may not fully lock in place. rnrnSafety Risk: rnA seat backrest that isn't locked could move in a crash and increase the risk of injury. rnrnCorrective Actions: rnBMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the third-row seat and reinstall the compression springs, as necessary. To reduce the safety risk, BMW recommends that you should not transport any passengers in the third-row seat until the recall repairs have been completed.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2022501.
