Issue: rnOn certain cars equipped with a 2.0 L T-GDI engine, an engine compartment fire could occur while driving. Kia believes that a fire could start in or near the brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU). rnNote: This recall does not affect vehicles equipped with Smart Cruise Control (SCC).rn rnSafety Risk: rnThe car could catch fire while driving. rn rnCorrective Actions: rnKia will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to install a new fuse kit. The kit contains two new fuses of 25A instead of 40A, which are designed to prevent an over-current condition. rnNote: You may have received a notice from Kia in December 2020 to advise that your vehicle was not part of this recall, however this is a NEW recall expansion. Contact Kia Canada or your local dealer if you have any questions about this recall.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2021002.
