UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, THE FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS MAY CONTACT THE CV JOINTS ON THE SUSPENSION CONTROL ARMS FORCEFULLY ENOUGH TO PRESS THE CALIPER PISTON AWAY FROM THE BRAKE DISC. WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED FOR THE FIRST TIME AFTER THAT, THE CALIPER MAY NOT GRIP THE DISC TIGHTLY ENOUGH TO PRODUCE THE EXPECTED BRAKING ACTION. THIS COULD CAUSE THE OPERATOR TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.rnCORRECTION: THE LEFT AND RIGHT CV JOINT GUARDS WILL BE REPLACED WITH COUNTERMEASURE COMPONENTS. THE STEERING STOPS AND MOUNTING BRACKETS WILL BE ADJUSTED AS NECESSARY TO ENSURE ADEQUATE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE CALIPER AND THE GUARDS.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1997005.
