Issue: nOn certain M5 and M8 models, the transmission wiring harness could become damaged and lead to a short circuit. As a result, the vehicle could suddenly shift to neutral while driving. n nSafety Risk: nA sudden of loss power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.n nCorrective Actions: nBMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the transmission wiring harness for damage and replace it if necessary. Additionally, the wiring harness will be rerouted and attached with different fasteners.
