THE MATERIAL OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD IS BRITTLE AND MAY RESULT IN A FATIGUE FAILURE FROM TORSIONAL STRESS. SHOULD THE ACCELERATOR ROD BREAK, THE ENGINE WOULD RETURN TO IDLE. THIS COULD RESULT IN AN INABILITY TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE AND COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. rnCORRECTION: THE ELECTRONIC ACCELERATOR RODS ON THESE VEHICLES WILL BE REPLACED WITH NEW RODS.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1997228.
