Issue: rnOn certain vehicles, the engine crankshaft pulley bolt may have been manufactured improperly. This could cause it to crack and fail. If this happens, the crankshaft could break and cause a sudden engine failure. A driver may hear loud noises and see warning lights on the dash immediately before the engine fails. rn rnSafety Risk: rnAn engine failure could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a loose pulley could separate from the engine and cause damage. If it separates from the vehicle, it could become a hazard for bystanders or other drivers. rn rnCorrective Actions: rnThe company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to an authorized repair facility to have the crankshaft pulley bolt replaced with a new one.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2019029.
