VEHICLES PRODUCED BETWEEN SEPT. 19 AND OCT. 19, 1978. SOME 15 X 5.5 INCH WHEEL ASSEMBLIES MAY HABE SUB-STANDARD SPOT WELDS AT THE DISC TO RIM ATTACHMENT THAT COULD RESULT IN METAL FATIGUE CRACKS IN THE WHEEL RIM. THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE AIR LOSS RESULTING IN TIRE UNDERINFLATION AND POSSIBLE TIRE BLOWOUT. ALSO, IF ALL SPOT WELDS WERE TO FAIL, THE RIM AND TIRE WOULD SEPARATE FROM THE WHEEL DISC RESULTING IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1979135.
