On certain vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine, the in-tank electric fuel pump may not be correctly activated following a vehicle start-up cycle. The engine may start and continue to operate as normal until the engine fuel demand exceeds the ability for the pump to supply sufficient fuel. The engine can then cut out without warning. Loss of propulsion, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the Engine Control Module.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2010237.
