On certain trailers, the wheel studs may have been improperly tempered during the manufacturing process. As such, the studs may prove brittle and susceptible to fracture. Fractured wheel studs could allow the wheel assembly to separate from the vehicle. This could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. A separated wheel could also roll-away, posing a risk to motorists and bystanders. Correction: Dealers will replace the wheel studs.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2008438.
