On certain motorcycles, an improperly manufactured transmission gear can cause weakening and eventual breakage of an adjacent gear, with which it engages. Gear breakage can result in transmission lock-up which could cause the operator to lose control of the motorcycle. Correction: The improperly manufactured gear together with its adjacent gear will be replaced.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1997242.
