A POTENTIAL INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE AND THE PRNDL BELLCRANK CLIP CAN RESULT IN DISENGAGEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION CABLE FROM THE STEERING COLUMN BALL STUD. THIS COULD ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO BE IN A GEAR OTHER THAN THAT DISPLAYED ON THE PRNDL INDICATOR. THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. rnCORRECTION: A NEWLY DESIGNED BELLCRANK CLIP WILL BE INSTALLED ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1988045.
