What the notice says today
The issue
On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the body control module (BCM) to reset while driving. As a result, the ignition could switch off and cause a loss of power to the wheels. It could also cause a loss of certain controls, warning lights, malfunction tell-tales and rearview camera system.
The safety risk
A loss of power to the wheels, exterior lights that don't work, and/or controls, warnings and tell-tales that don't display could increase the risk of a crash. A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up, which could also increase the risk of a crash.
What will be done
Volkswagen will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the BCM software.

Problème : Sur certains véhicules, un problème de logiciel pourrait faire en sorte que le module de commande de la carrosserie (BCM) se réinitialise pendant la conduite. Par conséquent, le contact pourrait s'éteindre et entraîner une perte de puissance aux roues. Cela pourrait également entraîner la perte de certaines commandes, des feux d'avertissement, des témoins de défaillance et du système de caméra de recul. Risques pour la sécurité : Une perte de puissance aux roues, des feux extérieurs qui ne fonctionnent pas et/ou des commandes, avertissements et témoins qui ne s'affichent pas pourraient augmenter le risque d'accident. Une image de caméra de recul qui ne s'affiche pas pourrait réduire la capacité du conducteur à voir derrière le véhicule en marche arrière, ce qui pourrait également augmenter le risque d'accident. Mesures correctives : Volkswagen doit aviser les propriétaires par la poste et leur demander d'amener leur véhicule chez un concessionnaire pour mettre à jour le logiciel du BCM.
