What the notice says today
The issue
On certain buses, the emergency brake valve may not have been installed correctly. As a result, the valve could become loose or disconnect and cause an air leak. If this happens, the parking brake could apply suddenly while driving without the brake lights turning on.
The safety risk
A parking brake that self-applies suddenly while driving without the brake lights turning on could cause a person not to recognize that the vehicle is braking. This could increase the risk of a crash.
What will be done
Nova Bus will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to inspect and reassemble the air-line connections correctly.

Problème : Sur certains autobus, la soupape du frein d'urgence pourrait ne pas avoir été installée correctement. Par conséquent, la soupape pourrait se desserrer ou se déconnecter et provoquer une fuite d'air. Si cela se produisait, le frein de stationnement pourrait se serrer soudainement pendant la conduite sans que les feux de freinage ne s'allument. Risques pour la sécurité : Un frein de stationnement qui se serre soudainement pendant la conduite sans que les feux de freinage ne s'allument pourrait faire en sorte qu'une personne ne se rende pas compte que le véhicule freine. Cela pourrait augmenter le risque d'accident. Mesures correctives : Nova Bus doit aviser les propriétaires par la poste et leur fournir des instructions pour inspecter et remonter correctement les raccords de la conduite de frein.
