What the notice says today
The issue
On certain vehicles, water could enter the electric power steering (EPS) system. As a result, the wiring harness for the EPS system could corrode. If this happens, there could be a sudden loss of power steering assist.
The safety risk
A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds, and increase the risk of a crash.
What will be done
FCA Canada will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the wiring harness and EPS gear.

Problème : Sur certains véhicules, de l'eau pourrait s'infiltrer dans le système de direction assistée électrique (EPS). Par conséquent, le faisceau de câbles du système EPS pourrait se corroder. Si cela se produisait, il pourrait y avoir une perte soudaine de l'assistance de la direction assistée. Risques pour la sécurité : Une perte d'efficacité de la servodirection peut augmenter de façon soudaine l'effort à exercer sur le volant, en particulier à basse vitesse, et accroître le risque d'accident. Mesures correctives : FCA Canada doit aviser les propriétaires par écrit et leur demander d'amener leur véhicule chez un concessionnaire pour faire inspecter et, au besoin, remplacer le faisceau de câbles et l'engrenage EPS.
