Reported to the register 09/11/2023
What is wrong: Subaru of America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2021 Crosstrek, 2022 Forester, 2021-2023 Legacy, and Outback vehicles. An insufficient weld may allow water to enter the inhibitor switch, causing it to fail.
The risk: An inoperative inhibitor switch may prevent the reverse lights from illuminating and the rearview camera image from displaying, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix: Dealers will replace the inhibitor switch, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 8, 2024. Owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-800-782-2783. Subaru's number for this recall is WRQ-23.
What this page can and cannot tell you
These are the campaigns the American register (NHTSA) links to this model and year: the ones that may cover the car. Whether one specific car is included, and whether its repair was already carried out, only the manufacturer or the authority's own VIN lookup can confirm. A recall repair is free at an authorised dealer.
Where we hold the notice, the link goes to our own page, which keeps every version of the wording — including any the manufacturer rewrote after publication. Where we do not, the link goes to the authority.
Confirm this exact car by VIN: here, or at NHTSA, DVSA, Transport Canada.
