We hold 8,965 British vehicle safety recalls, the earliest published on 9 January 1992. They come from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, which is the authority that publishes recalls in the United Kingdom, and they are read from the agency’s own record rather than retyped from news reports.
A British recall carries a reference in the form R/2026/320: the year it was raised, and its number within that year. That reference is what a dealer will ask for and what the agency uses in its own database.
The most recent recalls published in the United Kingdom
Straight from the agency’s record, most recent first. This is the recent slice; the whole British register, every notice back to 1992, is at UK recalls.

Why a second copy of a public record is worth keeping
Every authority publishes the current version of a notice. None of them publishes the previous one. When the concern is reworded, when the number of affected vehicles is revised, or when the remedy is extended, the new text replaces the old text and there is no trace that anything moved.
We re-read what we hold and keep every version we have seen, with the time we read it. Nineteen British notices have changed since we started watching. The same discipline is applied to the American and Canadian records.

Where to go next
- Recall notices, and what they said before: individual notices with their earlier wording, marked word by word.
- The same part, recalled again and again: parts carrying more than one campaign against them.
- The same recall in two countries: where one defect is published twice, differently.
- Is this record up to date? When every engine behind these figures last ran.
Recall records are published by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and contain public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence. The dated archive, the comparison between readings and any before-and-after are CarsMultiverse.
