VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 300 OR 460 C.I.D. ENGINES AND REAR FLOOR MATS SOME OF THE SUBJECT VEHICLES WERE PRODUCED WITHOUT SOME SPECIFIED BODY-MOUNTED HEAT SHIELDS. IF SUCH A VEHICLE IS ALLOWED TO IDLE FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD (PARTICULARLY WITH A FOULED SPARK PLUG OR OTHER ENGINE CONDITION WHICH INCREASES EXHAUST TEMPERATURES) THE ABSENCE OF THESE HEAT SHIELDS COULD RESULT IN HIGH REAR FLOOR PAN TEMPERATURES THAT COULD CHAR THE REAR FLOOR COVERING RESULTING IN INTERIOR SMOKE DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1979107.
