HIGH AMBIENT AND/OR HIGHER UNDERHOOD TEMPERATURES MAY CAUSE A CHEMICAL REACTION TO TAKE PLACE BETWEEN MINUTE WATER CONTENT IN THE BRAKE FLUID AND THE FALVANIZED BRAKE SPRING IN THE SECONDARY PISTON CHAMBER OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE CHEMICAL REACTION PRODUCES HYDROGEN GAS WHICH INCREASES PISTON TRAVEL AND REDUCES THE EFFICIENCY OF THE REAR BRAKES.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1980105.
