THIS DEFECT IS LIMITED TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH INDIANA MILLS AUTOMATIC LOCKING RETRACTOR SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY WITH THE KOMFORT-LOK FEATURE AND INSTALLED ON THE BOSTROM SUSPENSION SEATS. THE BELT ASSEMBLY MAY GO INTO A NON-LOCK MODE IF THE SEAT CUSHION PRESSES AGAINST THE RETRACTOR NECK WITH A PRESSURE SUFFICIENT TO CAUSE THE KOMFORT-LOCK FEATURE TO OVER-RIDE THE FREE MOVEMENT OF THE RETRACTOR CLUTCH. THIS WOULD RESULT IN THE SEAT BELT BEING INEFFECTIVE IN THE EVENT OF A SUDDEN STOP OR VEHICLE CRASH. CORRECTION: A SPACER KIT WILL BE INSTALLED BETWEEN THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR AND THE MOUNTING ON THE SEAT.
Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1988149.
