THE PITMAN ARM, WHICH ATTACHES TO THE STEERING GEAR, MAY NOT MEET THE CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES SPECIFIED IN THE DESIGN REQUIREMENTS, AND THUS, COULD FAIL. IF THE PITMAN ARM WERE TO FAIL, ALL STEERING CONTROL WOULD BE LOST AND A VEHICLE CRASH COULD OCCUR WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. CORRECTION: PITMAN ARM WILL BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF NECESSARY.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1990011.
