THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HANDLE LOCKING MECHANISM TENSION SPRING MAY HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED. AN IMPROPERLY INSTALLED SPRING POTENTIALLY LACKS SUFFICIENT TENSION AFTER THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS APPLIED AND COULD CAUSE THE BRAKE TO RELEASE. THIS COULD RESULT IN VEHICLE ROLL AWAY AND A POSSIBLE CRASH. CORRECTION: A LONGER TENSION SPRING WILL BE INSTALLED ON THE BRAKE HANDLE LOCKING MECHANISM OF AFFECTED VEHICLES.
Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1994089.
