THE CLEAR COAT ON THE ALUMINUM WHEELS MAY BE THICKER THAN DESIRED. WHEEL NUTS ON A WHEEL WITH EXCESSIVE CLEAR COATING MAY LOOSEN OVER TIME BECAUSE THE CLEAR COAT LAYER COMPRESSES UNDER LOAD. IF THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED WITH WHEEL NUTS THAT HAVE LOOSENED, THEN ONE OR MORE HUB BOLTS MAY BREAK, AND THE WHEEL MAY COME OFF THE VEHICLE.rnCORRECTION: THE CLEAR COATING WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE BRAKE ROTOR MATING SURFACE ON THE BACK OF EACH WHEEL, AND FROM THE WHEEL NUT MATING SURFACES. WHEELS, HUB BOLTS AND NUTS WILL BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF NECESSARY.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1994160.
