THE TWO BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE DRIVER AIR BAG MAY NOT HAVE BEEN INSTALLED DURING VEHICLE ASSEMBLY. IF A VEHICLE WITHOUT THE BOLTS INSTALLED IS INVOLVED IN A DEPLOYMENT LEVEL FRONTAL COLLISION, THE AIR BAG MODULE WOULD STAY IN POSITION DURING DEPLOYMENT, HOWEVER, THE MODULE WOULD LEAVE THE STEERING WHEEL CAVITY FOLLOWING BAG DEPLOYMENT.rnCORRECTION: ALL VEHICLES WERE CORRECTED BY HAVING THE BOLTS INSTALLED PRIOR TO FINAL DELIVERY.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1997009.
