Ford EXPEDITION in the other registers

This site holds seven national and European registers. Ford EXPEDITION is named on 40 American notices, 1 European and 8 Israeli. Those are separate campaigns, filed with separate authorities on their own schedules.

Nothing here says any of these is this notice in another country. A model recalled in one country is often recalled in another, in different words and at a different time, and the authorities do not cross-reference each other. Reading them together is the reason this site holds more than one register.

THE REAR AXLE TRACK BRACKET MAY SEPARATE FROM THE FRAME DUE TO MISSING WELDS OR A WELD PATTERN THAT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE DESIGN OF THE BRACKET. ALSO, THE REAR AXLE LOWER CONTROL ARM BRACKET MAY SEPARATE DUE TO INADEQUATE WELD PENETRATION. IF EITHER OF THESE CONDITIONS OCCURS THE VEHICLE CAN BE EASILY CONTROLLED AND BROUGHT TO A STOP. HOWEVER, IF BOTH BRACKETS WERE TO SEPARATE, THE REAR AXLE WOULD BE FREE TO MOVE LATERALLY UNTIL THE TIRES CONTACT EITHER THE FRAME OR WHEELHOUSE. THIS COULD RESULT IN EITHER TIRE DAMAGE OR A SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION IN VEHICLE HANDLING PERFORMANCE.
CORRECTION: A TRACK BAR BRACKET REINFORCEMENT KIT WILL BE INSTALLED AND THE AXLE TUBES WILL BE INSPECTED AND REPLACED IF NECESSARY.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1997011.

Reading this against the source

This page is what Transport Canada published in the Vehicle Recalls Database, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /canada, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.

What the words on this notice mean — the system it is filed under, and what the filing type says about who found the fault.

This notice names one vehicle among several registers that have written about it. Every notice this site holds for the Ford Expedition, in all seven, is kept on that vehicle's own page, with the newest in each.

This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Canadian recalls on a Ford: 1,346 in the register, and 243 Canadian vehicle recalls filed in 1997.
