UNDER HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURES AND THE FUEL TANK BETWEEN 1/4 AND 1/2 FULL, THE FUEL TANK INTERNAL PRESSURE CAN INCREASE CAUSING THE TANK TO EXPAND. TANK EXPANSION CAUSES AN INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE FUEL TANK PROTECTIVE SHIELD AND THE PROPELLER SHAFT RESULTING IN A HOLE IN THE FUEL TANK AT THE POINT OF CONTACT. THIS COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE, AND IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, A POSSIBLE FIRE.
CORRECTION: A SUPPLEMENTAL FUEL TANK VENTING SYSTEM WILL BE INSTALLED ON AFFECTED VEHICLES.
Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

Reading this against the source
This page is what Transport Canada published in the Vehicle Recalls Database, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /canada, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.
What the words on this notice mean — the system it is filed under, and what the filing type says about who found the fault.
This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Canadian recalls on a Am General: 8 in the register, and 243 Canadian vehicle recalls filed in 1997.
