IMPROPER DEPTH OF THE PARK BRAKE CAM LEVER SOCKET MAY CAUSE PREMATURE WEAR IN THE SOCKET. PREMATURE WEAR CAN REDUCE THE HOLDING POWER OF THE PARKING BRAKE WHICH CAN LEAD TO THE PARKING BRAKE RELEASING PREMATURELY WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL, RESULTING IN A POSSIBLE CRASH. CORRECTION: STEEL FLAT WASHERS WILL BE INSTALLED IN THE SOCKET FOR PROPER SUPPORT OF THE PARK BRAKE CAM.

Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1998001.
