NOTE: LOW-FLOOR BUSES EQUIPPED WITH SHURE-POWER INDUSTRIES MODEL 52107 VOLTAGE EQUALIZERS. A SHORT CIRCUIT COULD OCCUR IN AN INTERNAL COMPONENT OF THE VOLTAGE EQUALIZER WHICH MAY INDUCE MELTING OF THE 24 VOLT INPUT POST. THIS COULD IN TURN CAUSE A 24 VOLT BATTERY CABLE TO TOUCH THE VEHICLE STRUCTURE AND OVERHEAT TO THE POINT OF IGNITING A FIRE IN THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT. CORRECTION: A PROTECTION MODULE WILL BE INSTALLED DIRECTLY ON THE 12 AND 24 VOLT INPUT POSTS OF THE VOLTAGE EQUALIZER.
Transport Canada recorded this notice in capitals, as its system did for many years. It is reproduced here exactly as published.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1998071.
