On certain vehicles, a protective shield, located on the driver's side underbody may interfere with the proper operation of the vehicle park/emergency brake. If this bracket/shield is located too far forward and inboard on the vehicle, or it is not modified in the appropriate manner, it will impede the park/emergency brake bracket and will not allow the park brake to operate properly when leaving the vehicle, and, will not allow the emergency brake to operate properly in the event of an emergency stop situation. Correction: Bracket will be removed and modified so as to prevent interference with the park/emergency brake.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 1999055.
