Certain vehicles equipped with tie rod assemblies manufactured by TRW. The suspect tie rods contain 24-DL model ball sockets. Certain of the tie rod ball-socket bearings have a below specification case depth and/or hardness, which can lead to premature wear of the socket. If this condition occurs, the driver can lose partial control of the right front wheel, possibly resulting in a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the defective ball sockets and/or drag links.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2001085.

Reading this against the source
This page is what Transport Canada published in the Vehicle Recalls Database, kept as it was read. The authority publishes only its current wording; if a notice is rewritten, the earlier version disappears there and is kept here. The whole register is at /canada, and how the reading is done is set out in the method.
What the words on this notice mean — the system it is filed under, and what the filing type says about who found the fault.
This register keeps an index of its own for every maker and every year it holds: Canadian recalls on a Freightliner Custom Chassis (fccc): 64 in the register, and 301 Canadian vehicle recalls filed in 2001.
