On certain vehicles equipped with TRW 24-DL socket assemblies. Certain drag links and front axle tie rods may contain bearing surfaces that have a less than specified case depth and/or hardness. These ball stud and socket assemblies may wear out prematurely, resulting in a separation of the ball stud from the socket. This may cause a full or partial loss of steering control and possible crash without prior warning. Correction: Dealers will replace all affected drag link assemblies and only the ball stud socket assemblies on the tie rods.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2002227.
