On certain buses, the two-piece connecting rods used as an element of the door actuation linkage may be subject to fatigue failure. If a crack is initiated and propagates through the cross section of the connecting rod, it may result in bending of the connecting rod assembly and malfunction of the door actuation mechanism. If the connecting rod breaks, the door panel may be able to move freely in an uncontrolled manner, leaving the passengers unprotected by the door. Correction: Dealers will replace the connecting rod.
