Certain vehicles equipped with an adjustable lumbar support and a 40/20/40 split bench seat or captain's chair bucket seat configuration, may have improper welds at the joint of the seat back pivot bracket and the seat back frame. If the weld fractures while the vehicle is in motion, the seat back may recline unexpectedly. The occupant could lose contact with the steering wheel or foot pedals during such an event, which could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will install a reinforcement to the seat back frame.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2008066.
