On certain ATVs, the engine may fail to shut off when pulling the cord from the accessory tether engine shut-off switch post installed on these race-ready vehicles. If this occurs in situations where the rider is ejected, the vehicle may run away uncontrolled until the engine gets back to idle. This situation may lead to a collision with bystanders or other vehicles which could cause serious personal injuries or death. Correction: Dealers will remove the tether engine shut-off switch assembly and its cord.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2008328.
