On certain trailers, the wheel hubs may not have been correctly assembled during the manufacturing process. The bearings may have been over-torqued and/or improperly lubricated, and in some instances the hubs may contain defective bearings. This could result in bearing failure, which may cause the wheel assembly to disconnect from the trailer without prior warning. A wheel separating from the trailer could cause a loss of control and a crash. In addition, the errant wheel assembly could strike a vehicle, property, or a bystander. Both problems could cause property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the axle assembly.
