On certain vehicles, the bolt attaching the intermediate steering shaft to the steering gear input shaft may not have been properly installed during vehicle assembly. This could allow the joint to separate, which would result in the loss of steering function. A loss of steering control could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, repair the intermediate shaft/steering gear assembly to ensure the bolt is fully seated and the shaft is properly assembled.
The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2011187.
