On certain vehicles, high under-hood temperatures can cause the high-pressure power steering hose to deteriorate and crack, which could result in a fluid leak. Loss of power steering fluid could cause a loss of steering power assist, which may result in a crash. Also, power steering fluid leakage may contact a hot engine or exhaust component, which could cause a fire. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the high-pressure power steering hose with a revised version.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2012160.
