Transport Canada carries this recall as 2014588, dated 22 December 2014. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 14V820, dated 24 December 2014. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, 14855.

The two registers are 2 days apart: the Canadian entry is dated first, the American one second.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 14V820, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

Canada — Transport Canada, Vehicle Recalls Database
On certain vehicles equipped with diesel engines, a hose clamp for the fuel tank vent line may not have been sufficiently tightened at assembly. This could allow the vent line to become detached from the fuel tank, which could cause a fuel leak. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and tighten the clamp as necessary.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2014588.
