Transport Canada carries this recall as 2015554, dated 23 November 2015. The American register carries the same defect as campaign 15V793, dated 24 November 2015. They are the same defect because the manufacturer filed both under one internal campaign code, 15S34.

The two registers are 1 day apart: the Canadian entry is dated first, the American one second.

These are the dates each register records against its own notice. They are separate administrative acts in two countries, recorded by two authorities under two sets of rules, and this page does not claim that one caused the other or that owners in either country were contacted on those days. What it shows is that the same manufacturer campaign reached the two registers on different dates.

Read the American notice 15V793, including every earlier version of its wording this site holds. The Canadian register explains why the manufacturer code is published there and what that makes possible. Canada and America sets every matched pair side by side.

On certain vehicles equipped with Canister Purge Valves (CPV's), the valve may not operate properly. This could result in pressure changes inside the fuel tank which may result in a fatigue crack in the upper surface of the metal fuel tank, resulting in seepage of fuel, or fuel vapor. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could lead to a fire causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect the canister purge valve and tank.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2015554.
