On certain fire trucks, a defect in the ball joint boots could allow corrosion to form in the joint, leading to accelerated wear. This could cause premature ball joint failure, potentially resulting in a loss of steering control which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the ball joints and repair as necessary.

The wording above is the department's own, as it stood in the monthly file this site last read. Vehicle counts are the sum of the counts published for each make and model the recall covers. To act on a recall, use the official notice: Transport Canada recall 2016072.
